Site Manager User Guide
Step 4: Add Your Text
After you have set up your navigation system, it is time to
add the text to your pages. At the same time, you can set up your
META Tag information (title, keywords, and description) so that the
Internet Search Engines will be able to find you.
While you are working on your Site Manager, you will notice
that there is a small black and white menu bar centered at the top of
each of your webpages. This small menu bar is divided into two
sections and the top section will either say "Edit Page" (if the page
is clear), or it will say Edit Page|Clear Page|Show/Hide Banners. If
you have already added some content previously, the bottom section
tells you which page you are currently working on.
In order to place your content on any particular page, simply
go to that page by clicking on its navigation button. Then go to the
small menu box that is centered at the top of the page and click on
Edit Page. The first time that you do this (if your new webpage is
clear), you will automatically be taken to another menu that will ask
you to Select A Template.
When you highlight any of the templates in the upper
left-hand window, an example of what your page will look like will
appear to the right. When you have decided which template you want to
use on that particular page, make sure that it is highlighted and
click on the top Use Selected One button.
If you would like to use a script enabled module, such as
Contuct Us or Guest Book, you can highlight it in the lower left-hand
window and then check on the lower Use Sselected One button.
As soon as you do this, another set of boxes will appear that
say Page Properties and Page Content. These boxes are
self-explanatory and all you need to do is fill in the blanks. It
does not matter which box you fill in first.
- The Collage box gives you the name of the page template
that you selected. To change your selection, you will need to go back
to the page you are working on and clear it in order to start over
with a new collage.
- The Title box is the place where you put the title that
you want to appear on your Browser's title bar.
- In the Description box, you should write a short sentence
or two that will best describe your site to a new visitor. This
description will be used by some search engines, so be sure to
include a few keywords within your sentences.
- In the Keyword box, you should insert a few words or
phrases that you think a visitor is likely to type into a search
engine's "Search" function. Do not repeat the same word or phrase
over more than once per page, as many search engines will tend to
avoid your site if you do this (it is called "spamming"). You can,
however, repeat the same word or phrase if you use caps in places
where you didn't use them before. Many search engines are
case-sensitive. It is up to you to guess exactly how you think a
visitor will type in your keywords and place them accordingly in this
Keyword box.
Note: Always follow each word or phrase directly by a
comma and then a space before typing in the next keyword.
- The Page Content box is where you will add the text for
your page. For those who are not well versed in writing HTML codes,
we suggest that you click the small circle next to the word Text. It
is our recommendation that only those who are completely comfortable
with HTML, click in the HTML circle. Our site manager is set up to
provide you with a professionally-designed webpage using only the
Text function. The use of the HTML function is reserved for
experienced webmasters.
- In the heading window, insert a one-line heading that is
designed by you to get your visitor's attention.
- If you have chosen a page template that includes graphics,
you will need to insert the name of that graphic when it says Select
An Image. For more information about this, please refer to the
section of the User Guide entitled "Inserting Graphics and
Banners".
- Insert your page content where it says Enter Your Page
Text Here. You will need to highlight and delete our instructions
first. When you want to start a new paragraph, simply hit your Return
key. (You can hit it twice to make a break between the lines of your
text.)
When you have finished filling all of the boxes above, hit
the Submit button at the bottom of the page and your Site Manager
will automatically take you to your page and show you all of the work
you have done. If you want to make corrections or changes, simply
click the Back button on your browser, and it will return you to the
previous page where you can go through the process again.
- Anytime that you want to make changes in the content of your
pages, there are two ways for you to do this. You can go directly to
the page you want to edit and click on Edit>>>Page Content in your
menu bar: or, you can go to Edit>>>Page Names and from there it is
easy to view, edit, or delete any page on your website.
